. . . . . or in other words, HUGE, and UTTER FAIL!!!
You know when you have one of those awesome ideas. Maybe you saw it on pinterest, or maybe you thought of it yourself, but you just know it's going to be awesome!!! And, if it's an idea that will be for someone else, they are going to totally understand how awesome it is too!!!
Well, I had one of those!
I thought it would be so fun to give the boys a small surprise to celebrate the 100th day of school.
Tally mark t-shirts and smarties!!! No biggie, but totally cool to commemorate 100 days done and how smarty pants my too little men are : )
Well, the smarties went off brilliantly. They thought I was SO clever for using smarties to let them know how smart they were. (see?! I'm just that good!!)
The tally mark t-shirts look slightly horror-film, psycho-slasher-ish amazing!!! yeah, no kids are watching that type of stuff anyhow! So I have one thing to say to parents of kids in my boys' classes that might look sideways at me or them for that little detail - "keep it clean, folks. My boys are little angels!"
But, then the oldest just had to go and count!!
And, as he counted by 5's all the lovely little groups (that are very uniformly sized and spaced, and look wonderfully like pretzel sticks!), the numbering didn't end at 100 like they were supposed to. yes, if you look closely, you will see that there are not 20 groups of tally marks like anyone who can count could have spotted before they lovingly wrapped the surprise up to give to their 'smarty pants' kids!!!
oh, no!!! there are 25.
I know! That equals 125!!!!
Yeah, that day of school isn't for another 5 weeks!
But, it gets EVEN better (or worse!)
Look at each of those groups one more time and you will see that there are not 5 tally marks in each (as is traditional), but 6!!!!
YEP!
With all the love in my heart and excitement for the joy that would be on their faces made 100 day shirts that counted up to 150!!!!!
And, as my son burst into tears, I realized that it is a REALLY good thing that they love me not for what I do for them, but just because!!!
And, both boys heartily agreed that they love the mistake t-shirts (after they got over the initial trauma that their mother can't count worth crap!) and don't want new ones. These ones are awesome!!!!
See?! I really did NAIL it : )
That last picture gives a great view of their future selves. I think you rock... And they will NEVER forget this year's 100th day of school. you created anawesome memory.
